16th Annual Long Island Garlic Festival
You won’t find many vampires at the 16th Annual Long Island Garlic Festival, but lovers of food, farming, and fun will have a fantastic day. The most essential ingredient in every meal will be feted in all forms on this special day, with vendors putting out a wide assortment of foods highlighting the beloved ingredient, as well as many locally picked garlic bulbs for you to sample and bring home to experiment with! For those who are feeling daring and don’t plan on kissing anyone in the immediate future, there will even be a Garlic Eating Contest to see who can down the most spicy cloves!
The Garlic Festival is a wonderful way for the whole family to kick off the fall harvest season. Kids and teens can join in a Junior Garlic Iron Chef competition and try out their culinary skills making garlic sauce in front of a live audience. There will also be live music, workshops on growing garlic at home, hayrides, a bouncy castle, and a pumpkin patch to celebrate the approaching autumn. The event is held at the gorgeous Garden of Eve Organic Farm, which sells its own delicious produce in addition to hosting a wide variety of children’s and educational programming throughout the year.
The 16th Annual Garlic Festival will be held on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th, rain or shine. It’s an all-day party, with things getting moving at the entertainment stage around 10 AM, and at the event tent at 11 both days. Tickets can be purchased at the event for $10 and children under two are free! To sign up for the garlic eating festival or the Junior Garlic Iron chef, check the website. Parking is free and available on site.
