The Art of Distilling
When it comes to drinking well on Long Island, it’s not just about wine and beer(though of course, we love both) because while the North Fork plays host to amazing vineyards and microbreweries, that’s not the end of the story - just ask Baiting Hollow’s Long Island Spirits. Creators of award-winning vodkas, bourbons, and other spirits, Long Island Spirits is sharing their craft-distillery story this Winterfest with a seminar on the Art of Distilling, and you’re invited to soak up the wisdom.
Situated in the midst of thousands of acres of potato farms, Long Island Spirits has embraced and practiced craft distillery for twelve years now, racking up award after award while steadily expanding their product line beyond their flagship Long Island Vodka to include whiskeys, gins, ryes and sorbettas. You’ll learn about distillation process from heads to tails (including what heads and tails are to a distiller), what makes a shiny copper still more than just a funky piece of decor, and maybe even try a few special samples while you’re at it.
Long Island Spirits presents the Art of Distilling on Saturday, March 16th, starting at 3PM. Tickets to the seminar are $15 and can be purchased at the distillery. Looking to dive deeper into the world of craft spirits? Head back to the distillery a week later for the Craft Cocktail Seminar, where Long Island Spirits’ bartenders will take you through the history and preparation of classic cocktails.
